Welcome to the website of the Human Development and Capability Association, an association that promotes research from many disciplines on problems related to impoverishment, justice, and well-being. HDCA members live in over 70 countries; this website is our primary space for interactions.
This site is here to serve you - whatever your academic or practical interest in the human development and capability approach. We want this to be a place where you can learn more, encounter other people and find an intellectual and policy community. We are creating the most comprehensive collection of bibliographic resources on the web! And we hope to be the “virtual tearoom” of a truly global network of people interested in the capability approach.
In particular, we are developing this site as a participatory environment designed to be enriched by HDCA members on an ongoing basis. We invite you to help shape this site and develop it into a powerful tool for collaboration and learning!
Are you having a conference or workshop? Editing a special issue of a journal? Working on applying the capability approach as an individual or as a group? Have you published something or do you want comments on a draft? Does our site omit the biggest ‘players’ in your country? Well, in one minute you can add to our site! We especially welcome input from people and institutions in developing countries.
You can add unpublished manuscripts, post upcoming conferences and events, share teaching resources, and suggest useful web links by surfing to the appropriate webpages and click submit and fill out the form. All submissions will be reviewed by the site administrator and posted promptly.
Many hands make light work and we welcome your enthusiasm and inspiration.
