Thematic Groups
The Human Development and Capability Association encourages researchers who share common interests to organize thematic groups. At present, eight thematic groups are active. If you are involved in a similar thematic group, or if you would like to start one, please read and complete the following document and hence contact us at info@hd-ca.org. Please know that the thematic groups currently work only in English.
| This thematic group brings together researchers concerned with Foundational Conceptual Issues in the development & capability theory and literature. We aim to provide a platform to support and promote foundational research within the HDCA community about important concepts in the Capability Approach such as agency, freedom, evaluation, justice, and well-being. The group will have an email list for sharing questions, comments, working papers, bibliographic references, and announcements of relevant events such as conferences. Activities: We will organise panel sessions at future HDCA conferences. An international workshop between the annual HDCA conferences is also being considered. |
Informal meeting on the occasion of Amartya Sen
| Amartya Sen will be giving a public lecture at Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands) on 30th June, followed by a symposium the next day. Since several FICA members will be attending we will use the occasion to meet informally to discuss the group's future activities and leadership before the September conference in addition to the ongoing email discussion. Precise details will be arranged via the email list nearer the time. | |
