Dear all,
I wanted to know if someone else would leave Dehli via Dehli Airport around midnight 13-14 of September. I would like to share a Taxi, so I don’t have to go alone at night. Please email me at iris.sadlowski@t-online.de.
Thank you,
Iris

UPDATED 1/09/08: There will be 2 pre-conference training sessions this year. Pre-conference training sessions are designed to provide basic background information to people who may not be wholly familiar with the topic, and to refresh the memory of others. This year we have two high profile speakers giving the pre-conference training, and their lectures will be posted on the HDCA website for others to enjoy.
10 Sept 3:30pm: Frances Stewart, Human Development. Frances is the incoming President of the HDCA, and this lecture will be a good background on the history and distinctive lens of human development.
10 Sept 5:30pm: Martha Nussbaum, The Capabilities Approach. Martha was President of HDCA 2006-2008, and, with Amartya Sen, has been a leader in developing the capability approach.
Both sessions will be held in the Indian Islamic Cultural Centre, 87-88 Lodhi Gardens. Participation is free for all registered participants of the HDCA conferences.

Every year before the HDCA meeting we have a Worker Bee Meeting- this is one day (9am to 3:30 pm, 10 Sept), in which EVERYONE is welcome and warmly encouraged to come. It is a day to meet other HDCA members, and to do some of the small tasks that are needed before a conference - to upload documents, put key words in for conference papers, check translations, make signs, and of course eat and talk all the while. So if you are in Delhi early, and don’t know anyone, please do turn up! You’ll be out in time to attend the pre-conference training sessions by Frances Stewart and Martha Nussbaum.
When? 10 September 2008, New Delhi, 9am - 3:30 pm - including breakfast and lunch.
Where? TBC (ideas welcome)
What? A day to meet HDCA people, to connect and to contribute to HDCA - and have fun.

This is just an update that the HDCA Programme Committee accepted 144 papers and 18 panels, so there will be lots of choice and variety in the HDCA conference!

This blog is a place to share information regarding travel to India. For example if you are going early and want to travel with someone, or have questions, or information on cheap flights others might enjoy. You have to register first, and then you can post. Please respect other users as this is HDCA’s first experience with a blog.
